About Us

Bijou Fine Arts import handcrafted pieces from Asia & the Middle East. The company is passionate about stocking only rare, timeless and highest quality works, both old and new.

Owners, Vicki Mann and Mitch Noble have developed the closest relationships with creative communities across Asia and the Middle East over the past 30 years. It is central to the Bijou philosophy that it is these artisans, and their often impoverished communities, who benefit directly from working with us.

The new showroom at Mount Pleasant is open for appointments.  Clients are invited to share the serenity of the tropical gardens, whilst viewing antique artefacts, decorative objects and functional collectables gathered over the last decade from our Burmese network. All pieces have been purchased with integrity, and an eye for authenticity, quality and style.

From the Mount Pleasant facility, Bijou will supply local designers, boutique shops and galleries throughout the Illawarra, Sydney Region and hopefully, Australia.   Every few months Bijou hosts a direct to the public sale, however, if you would like to view our products, please give us a call.

The Bijou logo is a symbol of the ancient dragonfly, which is highly regarded in Asian cultures and particularly significant to the Bijou team...continue reading and you may learn about the incredible dragon fly!

Dragonflies are associated with water – where the Dragonfly’s scurrying flight across water represents an act of      going beyond what’s on the surface and looking into the deeper implications and aspects of life.

The dragonfly’s agile flight and its ability to move in all six directions exude a sense of power and poise - something that comes only with age and maturity.  The magical property of iridescence on the Dragonfly’s wings and body is associated with the discovery of one’s own abilities… by unmasking the real self and removing the doubts one casts on his/her own sense of identity - indirectly meaning self-discovery and the removal of inhibitions.

The dragonfly lives only for a few months and leaves nothing to be desired. This style of life symbolizes the virtue of living IN the moment and living life to the fullest - being aware of who you are, where you are, what you are doing, what you want, what you don’t and making informed choices - this ability lets you live your life without regrets… like the great dragonfly.

Dragonflies are reminders that we are light and can reflect the light in powerful ways… if we choose to do so. "Let there be light" is the divine prompting to use the creative imagination as a force within your life - help you to see through your illusions and allow your own light to shine in a new vision.
